What is Bannok?
Ban-nok, in Thai, means a countryside.
That's where I was born and grew up.
My bannok is surrounded by nature — plants, fruits and vegetables
We grew them, sold them and shared them with the neighbours
That's how life is — simple, livable, and grounded.
There's a lot of space
For small plants to grow
For kids to run around
For cats to play hide and seek
A space big enough for all beings
When the rain poured down,
We played in the rain, soaked and wet
And the plants were happily showered and watered.
The time we took our first cooking class with dirt
The time we lied on the tiled floor to keep cool during summer.
The time had passed.
I'm not sure if we ever live that experience again
A bannok life is transforming
Things are changing.
I am changing.
